What Makes The Best Gin & Tonic

News

This is probably the question we get asked most and it is often the hardest to answer.

The most exciting thing about gin these days is there are now no rules and no wrong answers (apart from Schweppes tonic!) when it comes with what to mix with your favourite tipple. The different styles of gin, botanicals used and also tonics now on offer, present a world of opportunity.

If you’re looking for a really wintery serve that will warm the cockles and make you want to sit by an open fire, there is only one way to have your G&T; put a big orange wedge in your glass, stir your gin with a cinnamon stick, top with tonic water and finish with a grating of fresh nutmeg. Christmas perfection in a glass.

How are the hipsters drinking gin – the newest craze with the bearded cool kids has to be a G&G, gin and ginger ale. Switch your tonic for ginger ale and this is a really refreshing way to drink gin (and more often than not, leads to at least another one being ordered). If your looking to take this to the next level serve the drink long, add a bit of fresh ginger and use a bashed lemongrass stalk as a stirrer.

Summer in a glass – my favourite way to bring gin into the summer BBQ season is to breakout the fresh raspberries, sprig of mint and finish with a bottle of Fever-Tree Mediterranean.

The best advice we can give anyone on how you should drink your gin is experiment – take what flavours you love in any particular season and start bashing, muddling and stirring them through you drink until you find the perfect mix. And, don’t be afraid to stray from the standard tonic in search of your perfect Gin and Tonic.
